Puddle
Flange
What we do &
How we do it
A Puddle Flange is a technique that can serve two purposes. Firstly it is used in conjunction with clutch welding and other waterproofing techniques to form a barrier between the existing ground and the new build.
A steel plate is welded to the piles, usually mid-span of the basement slab, and prior to the basement concrete pour a hydrophilic strip is glued to the Puddle Flange on the horizontal and occasionally the vertical face of the pile, which expands in the concrete pour forming a waterproof barrier.
Secondly the Puddle Flange can be used in lieu of or in conjunction with shear studs to add the load transfer from a capping beam load through to the basement slab.
