How we do it
There can be no guarantee that concrete cast against sheet piles will adequately adhere, especially when it is only cast against one side of the piles as in the case of a basement slab. There is normally a requirement for the pile and concrete to form an integral structure for load transfer.
Reinforcement may be required to be welded to the piles, but a more common technique is to use shear studs welding to the sheet piles in a grid pattern in the concrete zone to provide a positive bond.
Varying sizes of shear stud can be provided and welded including the usually specified 19mm diameter x 130mm long
