WHO WE ARE

What is sheet piling?

The introduction of Japanese piling presses into the UK in the early 1990s revolutionised sheet pile installation. This state-of-the-art method produced minimal vibration, and low noise levels and could cope with variable soil strata encountered during construction. Combined with pre-augering the soil in advance and water jetting during installation, the UK construction industry could finally offer clients a sheet pile installation with minimal disturbance to the surrounding environment.

Our offices are based close to our piling yard in Kent, where our equipment and pile stocks are stored. We can offer a well-maintained fleet of the latest piling equipment, suited to safe and efficient installations. Contact us today for a FREE no-obligation estimate.

Our Advanced Sheet Piling Machinery

Our advanced sheet piling machinery, including four WP150 silent pilers and the only JZ100 Zero Piler in Europe, all of which can operate with purpose-built AOKI water jetting units and self-propelled power packs, meeting NRMM requirements. With our ABI leader rig and excavator-mounted dangle drill, we efficiently pre-auger dense granular strata. This mobility enables our pilers to move along previously driven piles independently, requiring craneage only for support when necessary. Additionally, our machinery ensures versatility and precision in sheet piling operations.

Zero Silent Sheet Piling

Standard or conventional piling methods can be challenging in tight spaces such as narrow areas. Our Zero Silent Sheet Piling technique offers a solution and works in narrow areas to maximise the use of the available area leaving very little or "ZERO" dead space. This method ensures efficient and cost-effective construction.

Sheet Piling Design

Berryrange boasts a team of experienced design engineers who provide comprehensive design and draughting services conforming to Eurocode design standards. Our specialist proprietary software ensures accuracy and efficiency, facilitating third-party approvals and Highway Authority Technical Approval, (AIP), along with assisting with Railway Approval Forms.

Berryrange operates an Integrated Management System complying with and certified to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards. This has been implemented to maintain best practices, fulfil the requirements and expectations of our clients and continually improve the overall service provided.

Applications of Sheet Piling

Our sheet piling services are available to a wide range of clients, including main contractors, specialist subcontractors, developers, local authorities, and private clients. From housing and commercial developments to infrastructure projects and flood defence systems, sheet piling is a diverse solution for various construction needs.

The Benefits of Professional Sheet Piling

Berryrange steel sheet piles provide a robust, versatile, and sustainable solution for a wide array of construction and engineering challenges, making it a preferred choice for many projects. Getting Berryrange to design and install steel sheet piling offers numerous benefits. Here are some key advantages:

Strength & Durability

Steel sheet piles are known for their high strength and durability. They can withstand significant pressure and are resistant to harsh environmental conditions, making them ideal for both temporary and permanent structures.

Water Tightness

Steel sheet piles are often used in marine and waterfront applications because they provide excellent water tightness. Interlocking designs and additional sealants can create a nearly watertight barrier, which is crucial for cofferdams, seawalls, and bulkheads.

Versatility

Steel sheet piling can be used in a variety of soil conditions, (except rock), and for different types of projects, including retaining walls, flood protection, foundation support, and underground structures. Their versatility makes them a go-to solution for many engineers and construction professionals. Berryrange can provide advice regarding your specific project.

Speed of Installation

The installation of steel sheet piles is relatively quick and efficient. Modern driving techniques, such as vibratory hammers or hydraulic presses, facilitate rapid installation, reducing project timelines and prelim costs.

Sustainability

Steel is a recyclable material. The use of steel sheet piling aligns with sustainable construction practices, as the piles can be recycled at the end of their life cycle, reducing the environmental footprint. Berryrange can offer Arcelor “ECO plus” piles which are made from 100% recycled steel and produced in an electric Arc furnace using 100% renewable electricity. This makes sheet piles particularly economical for temporary works.

Load Bearing Capacity

A fact often overlooked by Engineers is that sheet piles can offer load-bearing capacity, making them suitable for supporting significant vertical as well as horizontal loads.

Minimal Site Disturbance

The installation process of steel sheet piles using Berryrange silent pilers causes minimal disturbance to the surrounding site. This feature is particularly beneficial in urban areas or sensitive environments where minimising noise and vibration is crucial.
